They say that everyone has a book in them but, me being me, I reckon I’ve got two. So I’m gonna write ’em. Please go out there and buy ’em! :o)
Now I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, but I reckon I’m a half-decent writer. I’ve won awards for my writing in the past, so I’m doing OK.
Writing this blog over the past two-and-a-bit years has been really therapeutic for me. If you have a problem, write it down and just seeing it there in black and white seems to help somehow.
And there are quite a few trans writers out there who’ve written books about their journeys. I have some classics by the likes of Jenny Boylan, Janet Mock and Alex Drummond.
So a few weeks ago, I thought: why not write my own? I reckon my journey has been pretty interesting to date, with plenty of highs and lows, twists and turns, goodies and baddies.
And much of it is already written thanks to this blog. Initially, I was going to wait until being on HRT for a year or two so that I could write about my experiences with that.
But then I thought: why wait? Why not do two? One about growing up as trans, all through childhood, puberty and adulthood to the point where I (hopefully) begin estrogen – and then a second one about my new life thereafter?
I’ve been looking into various ways of publishing and it seems that self-publishing and Amazon are the way forward. I have experience of self-publishing already, and I guess the trans books I’ve bought have been from Amazon. So that makes sense.
So I’ve been busy these past few nights beavering away with potential titles, chapter headings and that kind of thing, plus writing a whole lot more content, much of which isn’t on this blog.
So that’s where we’re at, ladies, gentlemen, non-binary and intersex people! Watch this space. No idea when the first book will be out yet – but I reckon some time early next year.
I hope you go out and buy it! It’s gonna be dead good!
