I’ve had so many lovely messages from the Mumsnet TERF Mafia over the past couple of days – I really have! Naturally, modesty prevents me from publishing most of them. But one thing struck me yesterday – and that’s the question surrounding transgender children. What does a TERF do when little Jimmy tells Mummy “he’s” really a girl?
Is femininity wasted on females?
Oscar Wilde (or was it George Bernard Shaw?) once famously wrote that youth is wasted on the young. I reckon femininity might be wasted on females – well, some of them, anyway. As women fight – quite rightly – to make their voices heard in a still-male-dominated society, should femininity really be a victim of that battle? [Read more…]

We live in uncertain times. Back in 2015, the so-called “year of trans”, transgender people including myself were finally becoming more accepted by society. So much so that those who’d previously been frightened of presenting in their true gender began to come out of the closet. Referals to gender clinics soared.
